Bible Study
Introduction
Studying the Scriptures is one of the most important things a Christian can do. The foundations of our faith and doctrine are found in the Bible. Within the Bible you will discover what God expects His followers to do, How God deals with people, how the universe came to be, wonderfull stories of faithfull believers and tragic stories of those who rebel against God.Within the Scriptures you discover how sin came to be, the consequences of sin, and God's redemptive plan for man through His eternal Son Jesus Christ. Studying the Bible equips you to reveal the gospel of truth in an effective way to those who will recieve it.
Rather than just repeating things you have been taught by others, by studying the Bible you learn those essential truths for yourself. A proper understanding of Scripture will enable you to discern between true teachings and false doctrines, seperating the doctrines of men from the true doctrines of God. You can become a voice through which God can speak His truth to the world.
Finally, as a Christian, by studying the Bible with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you will strengthen your faith and equip yourself to be a better servant of Christ. The Scriptures are authored by the Holy Spirit, and as a believer that same Holy Spirit is within you, and will teach you all things as you study.
What I will attempt to do in this section of this website is to provide resources to methods of studying, interpreting, and understanding the Bible, God's written Word, for yourself. No method can replace the ministry of the Holy Spirit within you to reveal truth, but the Holy Spirit will teach you through these methods as you apply them. A Christian should enter into Bible study with prayer, asking God to reveal His truth to you as you study. We should approach Bible study with reverence and humbleness toward God, as it is His mighty written Word.
