This Week's Scripture Memorization
This neat memory verse script updates every Sunday and has verses selected according to a great Biblical doctrine, not just randomly. So as you memorize, you also remember the theme of the passage. So if someone asks you about justification for example, you automatically think of verses you have memorized under that theme. The selected verses are from the English Standard Version, a trustworthy modern English Bible (and my favorite modern English translation).Imagine how your personal witness will be strengthened by memorizing 52 passages of Scripture dealing with the foundational doctrines of Christianity!
Still not motivated? Consider this quote from John Piper:
"You may doubt that you can do this, especially if you are older. But ask yourself this question, If I offered you $1,000 for every verse you memorized in the next week, how many do you think you could memorize? Yet God says of his word in Psalm 19:10-11, "They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them Thy servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward." The real value of the word is far greater than $1,000 a verse. The question is, Do you believe this? Believing this will be the crucial motivation you need."
I believe it!
Today's Bible Reading
This script updates every day at midnight and takes you through the English Standard Version Old Testament, New Testament, and Proverbs once, and the Psalms twice in one year. The coolest feature is the "(Listen)" link. You can listen to Max McLean's magnificent reading of Scripture and read along with him. I really enjoy this script, however the footnotes are kind of silly as they are not noted or linked with the text (shrugs).
