Essential Doctrine
The Gospel
Gal 1:6-9 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. As you can see, it is essential to know and abide in the true gospel of Jesus Christ, and not to be lead astray by anyone who perverts the gospel message. In this case, some were teaching the Galatians that they had to keep the Jewish ordinances of the law in order to be saved, thus perverting the true gospel message.
1Co 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures;
15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures:
Here Paul summarizes the gospel message in it's entirety, that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again on the third day according to Scriptures.
Believing the gospel message according to the Scriptures includes the other three essential doctrines, of the divinity of Jesus, salvation by grace through faith, and the resurrection of Christ.

A good measure of whether a belief system or preacher or teacher is of God are the four essential doctrines according to the Bible, without which a person cannot enter the Kingdom of God. Most pseudo-christian cults and all false belief systems will deny one or more of the essential doctrines of Christianity.
A proper understanding of the essential doctrines is something that every believer needs to have to provide a Biblical model of salvation to seekers and to refute false doctrines that lead to damnation.
